Prof. YU Huarong was appointed as vice president of Chongqing Medical University in July 2024.
Prof. Yu is the Managing Director of Chinese Association for Physiological Sciences (CAPS), the Vice Chairman of the committee of teaching of CAPS, the Vice Chairman of the Functional Experiment Teaching Committee of Chinese Association of Pathophysiology, the deputy leader of the basic medicine group of the National Demonstration Center for Experimental Education, the Chairman of the Medical Experimental Technology Professional Alliance, the Managing Director of Chongqing Neuroscience Society and the member of Chongqing Laboratory Construction and Practical Teaching Steering Committee.
His primary research focuses on the pathogenesis of diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases, and medical education. He has successfully led over 10 national, provincial, and municipal projects of various types. His work has been recognized with a first prize from the Chongqing Municipal Health Bureau and a third prize from the Yuzhong District Science and Technology Progress Award. He has authored more than 50 papers in domestic and international professional journals, along with one monograph. In the realm of education, he has spearheaded six teaching reform projects sponsored by the Ministry of Education and other institutions. Additionally, he has mentored two national-level university student innovation projects. His contributions to education have been acknowledged with one Special Award and one first prize for Chongqing Municipal Teaching Achievement, as well as three school-level first prizes for teaching achievements. Furthermore, he has served as chief editor or deputy editor for six textbooks.
