    National Engineering Research Center of Ultrasound Medicine

    National Engineering Research Center of Ultrasound Medicine was co-founded by Chongqing Medical University and Chongqing Haifu Medical Technology Co. Ltd., and was approved by National Development and Reform Commission in October 2005. The Center is based at Chongqing Ronghai Ultrasonic Medical Engineering Research Center Co., Ltd.

    Always focusing on innovation, the Center leads the world in the field of focused ultrasound treatment. It also exports high-end focused ultrasound treatment equipment and innovative technology to the world, and is still the only National Engineering Research Center in the field of digital medical device up to today.

    With the application of the focused ultrasound therapy technology, the Center aims to create a mechanism that integrates the development of engineering research in digital medical devices with testing, which is conducive to scientific and technological innovation and achievement transformation. The Center also boasts itself in building a bridge that links industrial development with scientific and technological innovation to promote the development of key generic technologies, leading cutting-edge technologies, modern engineering technology, and disruptive technology in the industry of digital medical device, accelerate the transformation process of research achievements into products for use, thus building a solid foundation for scientific and technological development and creating a modernized industrial chain for state-of-the-art technologies.

    The Center has constructed five platforms for basic research and development, engineering research transformation, research and services in clinical medicine, technology and project transformation, as well as standardization and certification services. Moreover, the personnel team in the Center is made up of professionals with pioneering spirits, who have dedicated themselves to combining engineering with medicine closely and integrates basic research with clinical applications. The Center is also capable of binding technology transfer to capital operation advantageously. Up to now, more than 10 focused ultrasound therapeutic products have been developed and transformed, which are used in medical institutions as well as in households.

    The Center enables China to have a voice in the world in focused ultrasound therapy technology. It not only leads in formulating standards and clinical regulations of focused ultrasound therapy in China and also participates these events in the world, but also has set up the International Society of Minimally Invasive and Virtual Surgery. Additionally, we hold the Yangtze International Summit of Minimally-Invasive and Noninvasive Medicine every two years.

    Detailed Introduction:

    At present, the management mode, which combines manufacturing, education and R&D, is applied in the Center and the State Key Laboratory of Ultrasound Engineering in Medicine, National Engineering Research Center of Ultrasound Medicine and other related institutes built based at the University. Places that are designated for scientific research and outcome transformation in this filed cover an area of about 4500 m2, with property assets valued more than 60 million yuan and experimental equipment over 1200 million yuan, taking a leading position in the field of focused ultrasound therapy at home and abroad.

    Events:

    (1) In 2005, a National Engineering Research Center was approved by National Development and Reform Commission

    (2) Seven Advanced Management Talent Training Workshops on Focused Ultrasound Surgery Technology were held.

    (3) The Fourth Yangtze International Summit of Minimally-Invasive and Non-invasive Medicine was held.

    (4) Thirteen Dajia Summer Forums for Ultrasound Therapy were held.

    (5) On May 2021, the Fourth Standing Council of the Eleventh Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering & Biomedical Engineering Promoting Innovative Development of Medical Equipment Forum was held.
