On the afternoon of April 22, Stephen Ellison, British Consul-General in Chongqing, and other officers from the British Consulate-General in Chongqing, visited Chongqing Medical University. Deng Shixiong, Deputy Secretary of CQMU Communist Party Committee and Vice President of Chongqing Medical University, received the delegation from British Consulate-General on behalf of CQMU.
Vice President Deng Shixiong extended a warm welcome to Consul-General and his colleagues, and expressed hgratitude to the British Consulate-General in Chongqing for its long-term support to the Joint Education Program between Chongqing Medical University and University of Leicester. Deng Shixiong introduced the development and future planning of the Joint Education Program with a focus on talent cultivation model, professional features and six integration concepts of the program. He believed that the two universities would work together to cultivate clinical medical elites with global perspectives, multicultural adaptability, preliminary clinical ability, lifelong learning ability, good professional ethics, preliminary scientific research ability, and job competitiveness.
Stephen Ellison said that it was good to see Chongqing Medical University and the University of Leicester overcome difficulties to promote continuous development of this Joint Education Program. The British government would be willing to to give full support to this program and hoped for a resumption of mutual exchanges of teachers and students from two universities. The government would like to work as a bridge to help Chongqing Medical University build partnership with more educational, medical, and scientific research institutions in Britain in order to share high-quality resources, promote mutual development in medical and health services, and deliver benefits to the people of two countries and beyond.
This visit would strengthen the friendship between the two universities, enhance our cooperation and exchange with foreign universities, and advance development of international education for CQMU. Accompanying members from CQMU included Wang Yu, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office, Zhu Dan, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office, and Yang Xiao, Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Management Office.
