    Chongqing Medical University and the University of Leicester hold the plenary meeting of the 2021-2022 Joint Management Committee

    On November 4th, the plenary meeting of the 2021-2022 Joint Management Committee of Chongqing Medical University and the University of Leicester was held in Room 309 of the Second Teaching Building  of  CQMU’s Yuanjiagang Campus, through cloud connection.


    Several representatives from both organisations attended the meeting. In attendance were Professor Huang Ailong, President of Chongqing Medical University and Chairman of the Joint Management Committee; Professor Deng Shixiong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of CQMU, Department head of the College of International Medical of CQMU, Chairman of the Joint Executive Committee on Chinese side; Nishan Canagarajah, President of the University of Leicester and Vice Chairman of the Joint Management Committee, Philip Baker, Vice President of UoL for scientific research and external development, Thompson Robinson, Vice President, Director of the Department of Life Sciences of UoL, Department head of the Medicine college of UoL, and Chairman of the Joint Executive Committee on British side.


    At the meeting, after hearing the 2021-2022 Joint Education Programme (JEP) development report by Shameq Sayeed and Zhu Dan, the Joint Management Committee reviewed the progress of the JEP in clinical medicine over the past year in enrollment registration, financial management, teaching operation, quality control, faculty training and college construction, joint scientific research funds, student psychological and academic support, and academic and stylistic awards. and they also set-out the key tasks in the joint education between the two universities in 2022-2023.


    The Joint Education Institute (JEI) application of Chongqing Medical University will take this meeting as an opportunity to continue to promote high-quality development, continuously strengthen connotation construction, foster innovation in ideas, enhance brand reputation and popularity and learn from the effective training systems and education methods of developed countries to promote a higher level of international cooperation and to contribute to the development of human health and medical education.
