On May 11th-12th, 2023, Professor Dennis Kunimoto, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry (FoMD) from the University of Alberta (UA), and Prof. LI Xinmin, a scholar from the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and Vice Dean of FoMD of UA, came to visit CQMU.
Prof. TIAN Jie, Vice President of CQMU, extended a warm welcome to Dennis Kunimoto and LI Xinmin for their visit. He pointed out that since the signing of the memorandum of cooperation between CQMU and UA in 2016, both groups have achieved fruitful results from the cooperation of clinical medicine disciplines, such as psychiatry, obstetrics, and gynecology, and that a larger cooperation - the International Health Medicine Training Program for Teachers and Students - will formally launch later this year. Vice President TIAN Jie expressed his support and encouragement to further deepen cooperation between CQMU and UA in the fields of infectious disease, dentistry, nursing, and public health in the future, as well as his anticipation of the continuous expansion of cooperation in discipline areas, high-level talent training, and scientific research between the two universities.
Prof. Dennis Kunimoto hopes that this visit will further promote friendship and deepen cooperation between two universities. Prof. LI Xinmin presented an overview of FoMD and its international cooperation, as well as their plans for further international cooperation and exchange with CQMU in the areas of teachers training and joint training of students.
In the "International Perspectives Enhancement Series - Meeting with the Dean of Medical College of UA", Prof. LI Xinmin introduced the overview of the training program, the training system of Canadian doctors, and the scholarship program between China Scholarship Council and UA, among other things. Students who are going to participate in UA’s international health medicine training program in 2023 attended this meeting, and the overall atmosphere of the meeting was good with enthusiatic reponses from the students.
