In August 2024, Prof. TAN Qunyou from the University-Town Hospital of Chongqing Medical University published a research paper as a co-corresponding author in Nature Nanotechnology online titled “Multimodal smart systems reprogramme macrophages and remove urate to treat gouty arthritis”.
This research developed a smart bionic nanosystem for the treatment of gouty arthritis. The system targets inflamed joints and promotes the accumulation of local anti-inflammatory macrophages, while uricase and nanozymes reduce uric acid and hydrogen peroxide levels within the joints. In addition, targeted NIR irradiation provides localized mild thermal therapy through the action of platinum and polydopamine, which initiates thermally induced tissue repair. The combination of these ingredients synergistically improves the overall effect, allowing for faster recovery of damaged joint tissue.
The University-Town Hospital of CQMU has been producing high-quality and high-level research results continually for the past two years. In the future, it will continue to care for the health needs of the local population, continue to play an important role in both scientific research and innovation as well as medical services, and strive to build an innovative research hospital as early as possible.
