On August 23, 2024, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) announced the results of the 2024 centralized application period. Chongqing Medical University (CQMU) was approved for 171 NSFC projects during this period, including 67 general projects, 103 Young Scientist projects, and 1 Excellent Young Scientist Fund project, with a total direct funding amounting to 65.43 million RMB. Despite intense competition, the number of approved projects CQMU recieved has increased by 9 compared to last year, representing a growth of 5.26%. This marks the best performance in CQMU’s history and places it second among all universities in Chongqing.

In recent years, the number of NSFC applications has reached record highs. In response to this new landscape, CQMU has placed great emphasis on the NSFC application process, focusing on top-level planning, strengthening incentives and guidance, and enhancing service quality. This shift to quality over quantity of project submissions has provided a solid foundation for securing NSFC approvals and robust technological support for the university's "Double First-Class" initiative.
