From November 9 to 16, 2023, Vice President YANG Zhu led a CQMU delegation to Bulgaria and Hungary at the invitation of the Medical University-Pleven in Bulgaria and the University of Debrecen in Hungary.
Professor YANG Zhu visited Medical University – Pleven, Bulgaria, engaged in in-depth discussions with Pleven administrators, including Professor Dobromir Dimitrov, the Rector, Associate Professor Tsvetelina Valentinova, the Vice-Rector for Quality of Education and Accreditation, and Associate Professor Diana Pendicheva-Duhlenska, the Vice-Rector of International and Project Activity. They explored possibilities for scientific research cooperation and personnel exchange visits between the two universities. After the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed, which established a foundation for continued all-round exchanges and cooperation.
The delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Bulgaria. The Science, Education and Culture Counselor GUAN Xin, cordially received them. Relevant personnel in charge of education, science and technology affairs attended the meeting. Professor YANG Zhu introduced the cooperation and exchange results between Chongqing Medical University and Medical University – Pleven, and hoped that the embassy would provide further guidance and support for the cooperation between our university and Bulgarian education and medical health institutions. Counselor GUAN Xin expressed willingness to support the cooperation.
The delegation visited the University of Debrecen in Hungary, and held meetings with Professor SZILVÁSSY Zoltán, the Rector, Professor SZABÓ Zoltán, the Vice Rector, Professor TŐZSÉR József, the Vice Rector for Health Industry Innovation and Training, Professor JENEI Attila, the Director of the Coordinating Centre for International Education, Dr. CSONTOS Pál, the Foreign Director of the Confucius Institute, Dr. CUI Xianjun, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, and other relevant responsible personnel.. They discussed medical education and teaching, scientific research, and short-term exchange studies of clinical medical students between the two universities. The delegation also visited the Clinical Centre of the University of Debrecen and discussed multi-centre clinical research.
The visits enhanced the friendly cooperative relations between Chongqing Medical University and Medical University - Pleven as well as the University of Debrecen. Furthermore, they facilitated Sino-foreign cultural exchanges between Chongqing Medical University and renowned universities from the ‘Belt and Road’ countries.
Medical University - Pleven, founded in 1974 and located in Pleven State. In 2007, it took the lead in conducting clinical medical technology innovation represented by da Vinci robotic surgical systems and has become the only robotic surgery training centre in Southeast Europe.
The University of Debrecen is a well-known public comprehensive research university in Hungary, ranking second in Hungary in QS World University Rankings 2024. Chongqing Medical University has cooperated with the University of Debrecen since 2020 when an MOU was signed.
