    University of Leicester Delegation, Led by Vice-Chancellor Nishan Canagarajah, Visiting CQMU

    From November 1 to 3, 2023, Professor Nishanthan Canagarajah, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leicester (UoL), and Professor Thompson Robinson, Pro Vice-Chancellor of UoL paid a visit to Chongqing Medical University to further enhance strategic cooperation between the two universities. The University of Leicester is a partner in cooperative education programs with CQMU.

    On November 1, the opening ceremony of the Chongqing Medical University - University of Leicester Joint Education Programme of Clinical Medicine and Clinical Science took place at the Tongsheng Auditorium on Jinyun Campus. In the afternoon, the leadership of the two universities had a cordial conversation at the Yuanjiagang campus. After the conversation, the 2022-2023 CQMU-UoL Joint Management Committee Meeting took place.

          

    On November 2, Prof. TIAN Jie, Vice President of CQMU, along with Ms. WANG Yu, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office, and other staff members, accompanied Prof. Nishan and his delegation on a visit to HIFU Science and Technology Industrial Park, where they engaged in in-depth discussions with relevant scientific researchers. Prof. Thompson, accompanied by Prof. ZHANG Dan, Deputy Dean of the First Affiliated Hospital of CQMU, toured the Outpatient Department, Clinical Skills Training Centre, and Key Laboratory of Diagnosis and Treatment on Brain Functional Diseases under the National Health Commission. They also held discussions on scientific research cooperation with Prof. XIE Peng.

    On November 3, Prof. Thompson delivered a scientific research lecture titled "To Treat Or Not To Treat Acute Stroke Hypertension: Is This Still An Important Question?" to representatives of scientific researchers and graduate students at the Institute for Brain Science and Disease of CQMU. Prof. WANG Chao, Deputy Dean of the Institute, hosted the lecture.

    The visit furthered the expansion of local international medical education, aiding CQMU in turning into a "Double First-class" university and fostering enhanced international collaboration. Moreover, it nurtured the development of high-caliber medical professionals who possess a global perspective in the modern era.
