    Consul General of Italy in Chongqing visited the University

    On February 28, Mr. Fabio Schina, Consul General of Italy in Chongqing, visited Chongqing Medical University. Prof. TIAN Jie, Vice President of CQMU, met with Mr. Schina on behalf of the university. Ms. WANG Yu, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office attended the meeting.

    Prof. TIAN Jie extended warm welcome to the Consul General and expressed appreciation for the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing for its long-term support in international cooperation between CQMU and its Italian counterparts. Prof. TIAN briefed Mr. Schina about the history, status quo and international education of CQMU, especially about its current collaborations with the Italian partners including the University of Florence, the University of Ferrara, and the University of Padua, etc.

    Ms. WANG Yu introduced the Clinical Medicine Student Exchange Programs between CQMU and the Italian partners, which paused during the pandemic. She expressed her hope to resume the programs this year with the support of the Italian Consulate General.

    Mr. Schina thanked the warm reception of CQMU, praised the university’s dedication to medical innovation. He showed great support for CQMU resuming and expanding its partnerships with Italian educational institutions, and would like to provide assistance concerning the collaborations between CQMU and the Italian universities.

    CQMU has signed an Agreement with the University of Ferrara for student exchange in 2017, a MOU with the University of Padua in 2019, and a MOU with the University of Florence in 2023. With the support of Prof. Lorenzo Corbetta from the University of Florence, the Sino-EU (Chongqing) International Respiratory Forum were successfully held by the First Affiliated Hospital of CQMU in Chongqing in 2021 and 2023.
