Recently, Chongqing Medical University (CQMU) and University of Debrecen (UniDeb) in Hungary signed an Agreement of Cooperation to promote collaboration and exchange between two universities, focusing on the joint training of medical talents.
On November 12, 2024, the Signing Ceremony for the "Chongqing Medical University and University of Debrecen Agreement of Cooperation" was held in Yuanjiagang Campus of CQMU. It is presided by Ms. Zhang Mi, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges.
Before the ceremony, Mr. Qin Zhengjie, Party Secretary of CQMU, met with both Prof. Dr. László Csernoch, the Vice Rector and Prof. Dr. László Mátyus, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, UniDeb. Qin highlighted CQMU’s commitment to advancing medical education in cooperation with Hungarian universities, noting that UniDeb is a vital partner, who has much in common and many complementary with CQMU. He expressed the hope that this agreement would be a starting point for both universities to explore the cooperation in education, clinical faculty development, medical research, and research translation, et.. On behalf of the university, Qin warmly invited the leaders, researchers, and students from UniDeb to visit CQMU to foster deeper collaboration.
At the signing ceremony, Prof. LIU Enmei, the Vice President of CQMU, remarked that this partnership between CQMU and the UniDeb takes place against the backdrop of the 75th anniversary of China-Hungary diplomatic relations, supporting high-quality joint efforts under the "Belt and Road" Initiative. Liu emphasized that this cooperation would strengthen friendship and mutual trust between China and Hungary, enhance exchanges among young scholars, and provide medical students from both universities with broader practical platforms. The collaboration would also promote in-depth academic and research exchanges, share quality educational resources, drive innovation in medical education, and cultivate globally-minded medical professionals.
In his address, Prof. Csernoch expressed his sincere gratitude for the hospitality that he has received and shared his impression on CQMU's academic and medical resources. He hoped that faculties and students from both universities would take the opportunity provided by the exchange programme to learn about the culture, history and medical systems of each other’s country. And he hope to promote the research collaborations and elevate the partnership to new heights.
Prof. Liu and Prof. Csernoch, along with Ms. WANG Yu, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, CQMU and Prof. Mátyus, signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of both universities. According to the Agreement, CQMU and UniDeb will implement clinical internship exchange programme for medical students and faculty members.
In October 2020, CQMU and UniDeb established a partnership by signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. In November 2023, CQMU’s leadership visited UniDeb, where both parties reached an agreement on student exchanges, faculty visits, and research collaborations. In July 2024, five faculty members from UniDeb participated in the CQMU Study & Culture Tour, expressing a strong willingness to deepen cooperation. The signing of this Agreement holds significant importance for mutual understanding and friendship, marking a new phase in collaboration between the two institutions.
