To support the growth of young scientific research talents in the field of biomedicine in the new era, from 23 to 26 April, 2025, Chongqing Medical University, in conjunction with the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the Shanghai Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and the Wang Yinglai Foundation, co-hosted the first “Yinglai Young PI Training Class”, building a high-level communication and learning platform for young scientists from 28 universities and research institutions across the country.

At the opening ceremony, Dr. SHAO Feng, on behalf of the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, delivered a speech, introducing the background, curriculum and vision of the “Yinglai Young PI Training Class”.

Prof. LI Huabin extended his congratulations on the first training class and introduced the university’s history, distinctive features of its disciplines and future development plans.

On the evening of 23 April, the training class officially began. The opening ceremony was presided over by Researcher MENG Feilong from the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Center for Excellence in Molecular Cell Science, who is also a member of the Youth Working Committee of the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Following the opening ceremony, Dr. Shao delivered a report titled “Enjoy Your Science with Your PhD Students”, in which he shared his many years of experience in student training, and delved into topics such as how to grow together with students, how to manage a laboratory and how to teach according to students' aptitude.
Academician WANG Yizheng from Fudan University, Researcher ZHU Bing from the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor JIANG Zhengfan from Peking University, Professor XU Zhengping from Zhejiang University, Professor SUN Jinpeng from Shandong University and Researcher LIU Mofang from the Center for Excellence in Molecular Cell Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences all gave special reports and shared their experiences on core issues of concern to young PIs, such as the choice of research direction, organization and management of laboratories, application for scientific research funding, academic career planning and balancing scientific research cooperation with public affairs.
Professional mentors for the leadership course, HE Hui and HE Yi, led participants through theoretical analysis, scenario simulation and collaborative interaction to deepen their understanding of leadership and management awareness, providing scientific theoretical basis and improvement for the trainees' leadership cognition.

At the closing ceremony, the trainees shared their gains. Prof. Meng presented the trainees with their certificates of completion. The training class was well received and highly praised by the participants. The society will continue to follow the personal growth of the trainees and implement a tracking plan to build a platform for communication and growth for young scientists.
