    Yongchuan Hospital, a national 3A comprehensive hospital affiliated to Chongqing Medical University, integrates teaching and research with medical treatment, emergency medical care, prevention, and health care. It is the network hospital of the International Emergency-relief Center recognized by the National Health Commission, a regional medical center of Chongqing Municipality, the Yongchuan Branch of Chongqing Medical Emergency Center, and a designated medical institution for real-time settlement of medical insurance across provinces and cities. It is also a standardized training base of the National Health Commission for resident physicians, a national-level physician qualification practice skills test base, a national-level clinical pharmacist training base, a national drug clinical trial institution, a Chinese chest pain center, a national comprehensive stroke center, a nurse standardized training base of Chongqing, and is among the first batch of skill assessment base for the standardized training of resident physicians. The medical services of the hospital cover about 10 million people in Yongchuan, Rongchang, Bishan, Dazu, Jiangjin, Tongliang, Hechuan, southeast Sichuan, and northwest Guizhou.

    The hospital is composed of two parts: the headquarters and the branch in Yongchuan New Area. The headquarters includes the teaching departments and the medical departments, covering an area of 64,000 m2, within which medical rooms occupy a total of 110,000 m2 with 1,480 beds. The branch under construction in Yongchuan New Area covers an area of 116,000 m2, within which medical rooms take up about 160,000 m2 with 1,200 beds, and teaching rooms consumes more than 60,000 m2, which can hold 2,000 to 3,000 students.

    The hospital owns 47 clinical and technical divisions, one provincial and ministerial key discipline, one provincial and ministerial key medical discipline, one provincial and ministerial key laboratory, five provincial and ministerial key clinical specialties, and two provincial and ministerial characteristic specialties, as well as the National Postdoctoral Research Mobile Station for Clinical Medicine and Chongqing Postdoctoral Research Station.

    The hospital has a municipal quality control center in general medicine of Chongqing, three municipal quality control centers in gynecology, medical imaging, and medical record quality of western Chongqing, and 13 quality control centers in infection management, general surgery, neurosurgery and the like at the district-level of Yongchuan

    At present, there are more than 2,000 staff members, among whom 1,779 are professionals and technicians (186 with senior professional titles), 336 have doctoral or master’s degrees, 66 are professors or associate professors, and 90 are doctoral or masters’ supervisors. On an annual basis, the hospital serves more than 800,000 outpatients (medical emergency patients included), discharges 60,000 inpatients, and performs 30,000 operations.

    The hospital owns advanced diagnostic equipment such as 256-slice CT, 1.5T/3.0T MRI system, two-photon linear accelerator, SPECT/CT, excimer laser system, four-dimensional ultrasound diagnostic apparatus, and mobile C-arm X-ray machine.

    As the Fifth Clinical College of CQMU, the hospital has built a comprehensive medical education system encompassing undergraduate medical education, postgraduate medical education as well as continuing medical education. More than 300 staff members have obtained college teacher qualification certificates. The hospital also carries out standardized training for resident doctors and nurses, general practitioners' transfer training, clinical practice skills training, etc. It has enrolled more than 600 undergraduates and 160 full-time postgraduates since 2017.
