RESEARCH INTERESTS
Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) exist in almost all tissues and participate in tissue regeneration and homeostasis. We are interested in the regulatory mechanisms that maintain and regenerate bone and tooth during homeostasis and repair. We hypothesize that a better understanding of these mechanisms will enable us to develop better approaches for treating bone and tooth related diseases in patients. Our work has the following three lines of research related to MSCs:
1. Understanding the transcriptional and translational regulating network of osteogenic/odontogenic differentiation of MSCs in both physiological and pathological situations.
2. Developing bone and tooth tissue engineering strategies based on MSCs and novel biomaterials.
3. Translational application of in-vitro-expanded MSCs in inflammatory diseases.
