From October 21st to 22nd, at the invitation of CQMU, Professor Dobromir Dimitrov Dimitrov, President of Medical University - Pleven(MU-Pleven), led a five-member delegation on a visit to CQMU.
On the morning of October 21st, LIU Enmei, Vice President of CQMU, met with Prof Dimitrov and his delegation on behalf of the university. LIU Enmei extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation and fondly recalled the cooperative history between the two universities over the past decade. She noted that since MU-Pleven introduced the High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) tumor treatment equipment which is independently developed by CQMU, the two universities have continuously deepened exchanges in medical research and education. From signing cooperation agreements to facilitating faculty and student exchanges, the collaboration has yielded significant results. She expressed hope that this visit would serve as an opportunity to further advance collaboration between the two universities in additional disciplines such as ultrasound medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and artificial intelligence in medicine, jointly promoting the development of medical education and technological innovation.
Dimitrov expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm reception extended by CQMU. He spoke highly of our university's education and medical resources, stating that MU-Pleven places great importance on its collaboration with CQMU. He expressed willingness to further expand cooperation in areas such as discipline development, joint training programs, and research, aiming to elevate the partnership between the two universities to new heights through practical measures.
Dimitrov and his delegation also visited the First Affiliated Hospital, the Second Affiliated Hospital, Yongchuan Affiliated Hospital, and the State Key Laboratory of Ultrasound Engineering in Medicine of our university. Both parties engaged in extensive discussions on clinical training for medical students, the application of HIFU technology, research in obstetrics and gynecology, and the integration of artificial intelligence into medical diagnosis and treatment.
This visit solidified the friendship and partnership between CQMU and MU-Pleven, for further collaboration in medical education and scientific research innovation.
Medical University - Pleven is one of the four medical Universities in Bulgaria. It was established in 1974, expanding the horizons, size and reputation of the City Hospital, founded in 1865. In 2007, the university took the lead in carrying out clinical medical technology innovation represented by "Da Vinci" surgical robot, and is currently the only robot surgery training center in Southeast Europe. In July 2014, the Second Affiliated Hospital of CQMU and MU-Pleven successfully applied for the “China-Bulgaria Prospective Joint Clinical Research on High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound Ablation of Uterine Fibroids” project funded by the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. In November 2017, MU-Pleven formally signed a student exchange agreement with our university, supported by the EU's Erasmus+ program. This initiative is a higher education cooperation scholarship program organized by the European Union, offering young scholars worldwide opportunities to pursue advanced studies at European higher education institutions.
