    Vice President QIU Jingfu Leads Delegation to Attend the 2025 South and Southeast Asia Medical Education and Service Alliance Conference

    From 30 November to 3 December 2025, at the invitation of the South and Southeast Asia Medical Education and Service Alliance (SSAMESA), Vice President QIU Jingfu led a delegation to Thailand to attend the 2025 SSAMESA Conference. The delegation also carried out recruitment and promotion activities for Study in China programs at Chongqing Medical University (CQMU). The delegation included WANG Yu, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, LI Xiang, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office, and WANG Lianglan, Vice Dean of the College of International Education.

    The 2025 SSAMESA Conference, themed “Digital Intelligence Empowerment Shaping the Future Together – Building a New Paradigm of Regional Medical Education and Healthcare Cooperation,” brought together medical education experts, university representatives, and heads of healthcare institutions from countries such as China, Thailand, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. The conference focused on topics including the digital transformation of medical education and the establishment of regional talent mobility mechanisms.

    During the conference, QIU Jingfu participated in the alliances working meeting and delivered a keynote speech titled AI-Empowered Medical Education: Explorations from Chongqing Medical University. In his presentation, he systematically introduced the universitys innovative practices in AI-empowered medical education. He emphasized the university’s efforts in integrating curriculum reform, enhancing international and digital talent development, and establishing the College of Artificial Intelligence Medicine. The university has also launched a clinical medicine program (AI Medical Innovation Class) and built a “Medicine + AI” talent training system. Furthermore, the university implemented the “Tackling Key Challenges” project to promote the comprehensive digital transformation of education and teaching. His report provided an important reference for the regions’ universities in addressing the challenges of digital transformation.

    LI Xiang, representing academic management, participated in a dialogue session on : To Enhance Medical Student Mobility and Cultivate Elite Talents within the Alliance. During the discussion, he explored with universities from China and abroad the optimization of mechanisms such as credit recognition, joint training, and mutual exchange, and proposed suggestions for establishing project-based cooperation.

    Following the conference, the delegation visited several international high schools in Bangkok to promote CQMU’s recruitment for Study in China programs. They visited institutions such as Siriwat Wittaya School, The Newton Sixth Form School, and International Christian School Nonthaburi, where they introduced the universitys policies on studying in China, admission requirements, and student life. They also held meetings with school leaders and academic advisors to discuss topics such as establishing inter-school cooperation, student recommendations, tuition fees, recognition by the Medical Council of Thailand, and licensure exams. The delegation invited students to participate in summer camps at the university to deepen mutual understanding.

    The delegation also visited the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, where they were warmly received by Education Counselor XU Lan. During the meeting, the delegation shared their participation in the SSAMESA Conference, and Xu introduced the status of educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Thailand. She suggested that CQMU focus on international education demands, including the potential opening of nursing programs, and provided guidance on strengthening international education cooperation with Thailand and establishing a talent base in the country.

    The South and Southeast Asia Medical Education and Service Alliance is a non-governmental, non-profit international cooperation network of medical schools and healthcare institutions from South and Southeast Asian countries. It was founded in July 2019. The guiding organization is the China Center for International People-to-People Exchange, and the founding institutions are Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and Kunming Medical University. The alliance consists of 21 overseas universities, including Chulalongkorn University in Thailand and University Malaya Medical Centre in Malaysia, as well as 24 Chinese universities, including China Medical University and Tianjin Medical University. CQMU is one of the founding members of the alliance.
