Recently, the American Academy of Nursing (AAN) held its 2025 Health Policy Conference in Washington, D.C..Professor GAN Xiuni, doctoral supervisor of Chongqing Medical University and Director of Nursing at the Second Affiliated Hospital of CQMU, was awarded a certificate and medal, formally elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN).

The American Academy of Nursing (AAN) is a professional organization that generates, synthesizes, and disseminates nursing knowledge to contribute to health policy and practice for the benefit of the public and the nursing profession. Members of the organization are invited on the basis of leadership and accomplishments and designated as Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN). The academy's highest honor is its Living Legend designation. Nominees for Living Legend status must have held the FAAN designation for at least 15 years.

Professor GAN Xiuni has dedicated 43 years to critical care nursing. Focusing her research on “Symptom Assessment and Comprehensive Management of Critical Illnesses” and “Exploration of Key Nursing Techniques for Supportive Therapy and Early Rehabilitation in Critical Care”. She has established a comprehensive management system for critically ill patients. “As an expert in critical care nursing, Ms. Gan has made outstanding contributions to disaster relief, public health, and nursing education over the past four decades”, this is the high praise bestowed upon GAN Xiuni by Mirjana Spoljaric, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
