Research Teams from the CQMU First Affiliated Hospital Publish Latest Findings in Nature Immunology

    Views:

Recently, research teams led by Professor CAO Ju, Director of the Department of Laboratory Medicine at the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, and Professor XU Fang, Deputy Director of the Department of Critical Care Medicine, published their latest research findings in the international academic journal Nature Immunology. The study, entitled Single-Cell Multi-omic Landscape Reveals Anatomical-Specific Immune Features in Adult and Pediatric Sepsis, was selected as a Featured Article by the journal.

Nature Immunology is classified as a Top Tier (Category 1) journal in the Chinese Academy of Sciences ranking system and as Q1 in the Journal Citation Reports.

The study integrated multi-layered omics data derived from peripheral blood mononuclear cells of patients with sepsis originating from different anatomical sites of infection. These data included single-cell transcriptomics (scRNA-seq), single-cell T cell and B cell receptor sequencing (scTCR/scBCR), CITE-seq, bulk RNA sequencing and plasma proteomics. In addition, the analysis incorporated 11 external single-cell datasets and validation using an independent clinical cohort.

Through this integrative approach, the research team constructed a high-resolution immune response landscape spanning different infection sites and age groups. The study identified potential biomarkers and intervention targets, providing a new theoretical framework for understanding the mechanisms of immune suppression in sepsis and for developing precision intervention strategies.
