Recently, with the participation and support of Deng Jiang, a member of the 15th Chinese Medical Team to Papua New Guinea and an overseas medical aid physician from the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital, the China–Papua New Guinea Friendship Multidisciplinary Microvascular Anastomosis Training Laboratory, established under the leadership of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Port Moresby General Hospital, was officially inaugurated. A donation ceremony for specialized microsurgical training equipment and supplies was also held during the same period. The launch of the laboratory marks the official establishment and operation of Papua New Guinea’s first specialized training platform centered on microvascular anastomosis techniques.

At the inauguration ceremony, attending guests extended warm congratulations on the establishment of the training laboratory. They highly commended the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital for its important role in advancing the development of oral healthcare in Papua New Guinea and fully recognized the practical achievements of the hospital’s medical aid work abroad.

As a core member of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the 15th Chinese Medical Team to Papua New Guinea, since arriving in Papua New Guinea, Deng Jiang has performed a series of highly complex microsurgical reconstructive procedures, including radial forearm free flap reconstruction for tongue cancer and anterolateral thigh flap reconstruction for oropharyngeal cancer. Several of these operations were the first of their kind in the country’s history, filling multiple gaps in local medical technology. His work has earned widespread recognition from the Papua New Guinean medical community and the general public, and has also provided a solid foundation of clinical practice for the development of the training laboratory.

The donated supplies for this initiative jointly provided by the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital, the 15th Chinese Medical Team to Papua New Guinea, and a personal donation from Deng Jiang. These resources not only provide systematic support for local healthcare professionals in conducting foundational microsurgical training, animal experiments, and clinical teaching, but also effectively help alleviate the shortage of routine oral medical supplies in the region. Looking ahead, the hospital will continue to put into practice the vision of building a global community of shared health for mankind. With compassion and dedication, it will continue to build bridges of international friendship and demonstrate the responsibility and commitment of China’s oral healthcare professionals.
