Institute of Life Sciences

Established in 2008, the Institute of Life Sciences is a large comprehensive scientific research center and talent incubation platform. It is also a large-scale scientific instruments sharing platform that provides technical support and services.

Many outstanding scientists from home and abroad gathered here, and several laboratories and research teams at the frontier of medical research have been established, including China - Canada - New Zealand Joint Maternal Fetal Medicine Laboratory, Genetics Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Genomics Laboratory, Overseas high-level personnel research platform, Radiation Medicine and Oncology Laboratory, Center for Novel Target and Therapeutic Intervention, Laboratory for Obesity and Related Diseases and Laboratory for Bone Development and Regeneration. The Institute is an Academician Experts Workstation and post-doctoral research center. It hosts over 30 national projects with a fund totaling 90 million yuan, including projects such as Major Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

As a sub-center of the large-scale scientific instruments sharing platform in Chongqing, the Institute houses advanced scientific research instruments.

Additionally, the Institute has built an independent third-party medical testing institution for clinical services—the Molecular Medical Testing Center of Chongqing Medical University and the Molecular Medical Diagnostic Center of Chongqing, which provide health advice, disease prediction and high-quality individual diagnosis.

After 13 years of persistent striving and hard work, the Institute has established itself as a platform for leading-edge life science research and technology service, a incubator for outstanding scientific research and innovative talents, and an transformation center for scientific achievements. It has effectively elevated the scientific research level and capability of CQMU.
